Steve is off!

We took a little vacation to Texas for a few days before Steve left the country. The girls and I flew to Austin with my friend Emily, who's husband is also in the Wyoming National Guard with Steve. It really helped to have someone with me to help with the girls! We flew from Denver with a few other wives/girlfriends of soldiers we knew, which was also cool! We stayed in Austin that night and then the next day drove to San Antonio for Sea World!

We also had a chance to go downtown to to the "river walk". All of the Spanish Missions including the Alamo were sustained by the river that runs through downtown San Antonio. All along the river are restaurants and boutiques. It was lots of fun but so so hot. We only have 1 pic outside the Alamo because you cannot take pics inside. It is considered a sacred place because of the men that were killed there. Texas has tons of history.

Steve arrived in Kuwait yesterday after a long flight from Texas to St. Paul, MN. Them on to Germany where they had a long layover. Its always kinda sad when you can say "I have been to a cool place but all I got to do was hang out in the airport for a couple of hours." After Germany it was on to Kuwait city and then finally they were bussed to there final destination out in the middle of no where. It has been as hot as 131 degrees! He has heard that after October the weather gets milder and is gets a little cooler. The wind blows like crazy, so much so that you cannot see 5 feet in front of your face at times. He was able to call me today for the first time, for free! It is always free to call home but there is sometimes long lines to use the phones. The air conditioning works really well and there is a Starbucks(Why would you want hot coffee in 131 degree weather?) and a McDonald's so things will be some what bearable. Here are some new pics of my man in uniform!

These are of Steve's commissioning ceremony. The bald dude in the first photo is Mr. Micheal Kingman. Steve and him were in the WYNG before they were ROTC cadets and then together all through college at UW and now they are together in Kuwait. It is comforting to know Steve has a good friend with him.

Here we are at the going away ceremony in Casper, WY.
